Crews find body of Buffalo Trace worker missing since last week
FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. - Franklin County Sheriff Pat Melton says he and his deputies found the body of a man who went missing last week.
Crews recovered the body of 26-year-old Will Rawlings at 11:58 Wednesday morning. His body was one and a half to two miles downriver from where the search for Rawlings began.
Family members say they believe Rawlings, who works as a security guard at Buffalo Trace Distillery, slipped into the river while fishing at night. Sheriff Pat Melton said it is common for Rawlings to fish at night, because of his third shift schedule.
"Everything that we could bring to bear, we brought to bear on this case to see if we could resolve this as quickly as possible," said Tom Russell, the Emergency Management Director. "Obviously, everybody understands it's a difficult situation for all involved, including the family and the responders. The longer it goes on, the tougher it is for everyone."
Medical officials plan to conduct an autopsy on Rawlings on Thursday.
