Former Lexington councilwoman enters guilty plea in theft case
LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Lexington Herald-Leader is reporting former 2nd district councilwoman Sasha Love Higgins entered a guilty plea in Fayette Circuit Court on Friday.
A grand jury indicted Higgins Tuesday on felony charges of identity theft, forgery, and three counts of theft by deception.
According to court documents, Higgins, who was the Hampton Inn General Manager, set up a payroll account for an employee who no longer worked for the business and continued getting checks in that employee's name.
Higgins resigned from her 2nd District council seat days after that indictment.
