Former UK quarterback on a mission to drop the pounds
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Former UK quarterback Jared Lorenzen is on a mission, and he's hoping to inspire others along the way.
He launched the Jared Lorenzen Project on Facebook over the weekend. Lorenzen weighs more than 500 pounds. He wants to lose weight, and he's sharing his journey.
On a gofundme page for his project, Lorenzen said, “I want to be there for my kids. I want to see them graduate, get married and have kids of their own. I don’t want my kids graduating high school and their father has died of a heart attack from being obese.”
Lorenzen also posted a video sharing why he needed to begin his weight loss journey.
"I've been big my whole life," he said. "My vegetables that I grew up on were mac n' cheese and potatoes."
He went on to say, "Right now, if I didn't wake up tomorrow, it wouldn't surprise me. "
Lorenzen didn't say how much weight he plans to lose, but he has a team around him to help him accomplish his goal. He also hopes to inspire others to get in shape as well.
