Jim Caldwell's Forecast | Alberto keeps tropical rains coming
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - The remnants of Alberto will continue to push bands of showers & storms into Kentucky.
We have been tracking tropical rains since Monday. Those rounds of rain will be with us today and into the early morning hours on Thursday. By that point we will be on the southern side of the system. Even when you find yourself there, you see showers sweep into Kentucky. The current moisture situation in the atmosphere will allow any of these showers & storms to house the heavy rain potential. I still think we run into some local issues that bring high water.
A cold front will push into the area on Thursday. Keep in mind that we are still in a very soupy airmass. When you get a potent cold front to interact with an atmosphere that is this moisture-rich, you get more heavy rain potential along with some strong storms. Thursday might feature a few of those. Some good heavy rainmakers. At this point, I would say that we could see a few strong to severe storms move into the area. That threat could change as we get closer.
Friday will keep some showers & storms around. The weekend might look a little bit better. In this case, better means dryer! There will still be some showers around during the weekend, but I do not think that these will be that widespread.
Have a good day!
