Kentucky emergency crews arrive in Florida
CITRUS COUNTY, Fla. - The Kentucky Fire Commission and multiple EMS crews from across Kentucky are planting their feet in Florida and going throughout the state to help in any way they can.
On Tuesday, the crews were sent to Citrus County, Florida to help relieve other crews that have been assisting flooding victims for the past few days.
"I know when we came down here we got a lot of smiles," says Michael Poynter, the Emergency Director for Kentucky Board of Emergency Medical Services. "I would have open arms if we had a disaster and we were overwhelmed."
Officials say they plan to support in any way they can.
The crew plans to continue traveling towards Jacksonville, Florida where more people are in need.
