KSP: $1.5 million in heroin found during vehicle inspection
EDDYVILLE, Ky. - A traffic stop in western Kentucky led to police seizing more than $1 million in heroin.
Troopers with Kentucky State Police Post 1 stopped a tractor trailer on May 8 in Lyon County. The Troopers were conducting a commercial vehicle inspection.
During the stop, KSP said a small amount of heroin was found on one of two people inside the semi.
More searching led troopers to a large amount of heroin: 33 pounds, which KSP said has a street value of roughly $1.5 million.
The driver, Roberto Orozco, 29, and the passenger, Alberto Leal-Martinex, 50, both of Utah, were each charged with Aggravated Trafficking in Heroin. The charge is a felony.
KSP did not say where the driver was headed, or where he came from.
