KSP: Father arrested for shooting son in Bourbon County
PARIS, Ky. - Kentucky State Police is investigating a shooting in Bourbon County.
It happened before 3 a.m. on Rogers Mill Road, near the Montgomery County Line.
KSP Trooper David Jones says a father shot his son during an argument.
State Police say their preliminary investigation revealed James Ross, age 25, returned home and had backed into a wood pile on the property, knocking it over. Investigators say his father, 49-year-old Ernest Ross, was outside drinking and got upset. According to police, a verbal argument between the two turned physical when Earnest Ross began striking his son with a .22 long rifle. Investigators say the rifle discharged in a struggle over the gun, striking James in the left knee.
Bourbon County EMS transported the victim to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police arrested and charged Ernest Ross with Assault 1st Degree and Assault 4th Degree Domestic Violence. Ernest also had an outstanding arrest warrant for aggravated assault.
