Laurel Co. undercover drug trafficking operation leads to dozens arrested
LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WDKY)- A 3-month undercover investigation in Laurel County has led to the arrest of dozens of suspects accused of drug trafficking.
Officials with the Laurel County Sheriff's office say they arrested around 30 people on Tuesday. The operation called " November to Remember" targeted those in the community officials believed to be selling and transporting drugs.
Sheriff John Root says they have discovered a mixture of drugs circulating the county.
“What we are seeing right now is a lot of the opiate drugs, and we are seeing a lot of the crystal methamphetamines, there is a lot in the county. People trying to sell that for profit.”
The Sheriff says if it was up to him, his department would conduct similar operations every three months.
