Lexington police investigating gas station burglaries
LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington police are investigating a pair of crimes that happened just minutes apart Thursday morning.
Someone broke into a gas station on Newtown Pike near New Circle Road. Less than ten minutes later, another gas station break-in happened across town at the Shell on Polo Club Boulevard near Man o' War Boulevard.
The owner of the Shell station says he was notified around 4:40 a.m. after the alarm started going off.
Surveillance footage at the store shows someone breaking the door, running over to the counter, taking lottery tickets, and then running off. The suspects face was covered.
Another burglary happened less than 10 minutes earlier at the Sunoco station on Newtown Pike.
A suspect shattered the front door causing the alarm to sound. Police say they are still trying to figure out if anything was taken there.
The timing of these burglaries has police looking into whether or not the two crimes are related.
A witness told police a grey station wagon may be involved in at least one of the burglaries.
At this time no arrests have been made.
