LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - Students at Frederick Douglass High School are being graded on how well they respond to a disaster.

Health Science Academy students arrived at school Thursday morning to find a mock accident awaiting them.

"My goal is to prepare our students for what they may see in the field one day, and this gives them as close to a real-life experience as we can provide," said Health Science Instructor Jeremy Miller. "This event will test our students' ability to think critically, communicate effectively, collaborate with other professionals and respond appropriately in a controlled, but intense environment."

The scenario is a small plane crashed into a school bus. The disaster training is part of a final exam.
