Police capture man wanted for purse snatching incidents in Lexington shopping centers

Police investigate purse thefts in Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Lexington Police have arrested a man in connection with a purse snatching incident that could be connected to several other cases in town.

31-year-old Adam Wade was arrested on Monday afternoon on Saint Christopher Drive. They made the arrest shortly after a shoplifting incident at Walmart located at New Circle and Russell Cave Roads.

Police also say Wade is responsible for stealing women's purses at the Kroger on Boston Road, the Meijer in Hamburg, the Walmart on Richmond Road, and in the parking lot of At Home in Hamburg.

In the incident outside At Home, officers say a man ran up to a woman, grabbed her purse, and tried to drive away. The victim jumped into the passenger's window and tried to stop the man from leaving. She ended up falling, and officers say the man ran over her leg. The woman suffered minor injuries.

"The purse snatchings have been taking place day time, night time," said Sgt. Jervis Middleton with Lexington Police. "I would just suggest everybody be careful out there. Watch your surroundings. No need to really panic, but you should always be aware of what's going on around you."

Police have charged Wade for the Boston Road Kroger incident. He will likely face charges for the other crimes as well.
