Teenager dies in Lexington shooting
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - —
Lexington Police are investigating a late-night shooting that happened Saturday night.
It happened just before 11:30 p.m. at the corner of North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and East 5th Street.
Police say that a man was shot three times in his lower body. He was transported to a Lexington hospital where he later died.
The Fayette County coroner identified the victim as 18-year-old Tyler Williams. An autopsy will be performed.
Police do not have any suspects. They say no one reported witnessing the shooting. One person in the area did tell them that they saw two men getting into an older model white Jeep Grand Cherokee and driving off at a high rate of speed after the shooting happened.
Police say the victim appeared to be standing outside when it happened, but they don’t know the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
Crime scene units were investigating late into the night.
No one else was hurt and no property damage was found.
