Threat prompts extra security at Scott County High School

GEORGETOWN, Ky. - There was extra security at Scott County High School Wednesday morning after police were made aware of a threat of violence.

Georgetown police said school administrators contacted police on Tuesday after being made aware of the threat.

Police said the threat was fully investigated and was unsubstantiated.

Overnight, rumors of a threat began to resurface on social media.

Superintendent Dr. Kevin Hub called police Wednesday morning, according to a post on the Georgetown Police Department's Facebook page.

Police said they worked through the night to investigate the situation. Officers said they were assured the threat was not credible.
