Three killed in Lincoln Co. crash

Kentucky State Police responded to a triple-fatality crash on U.S. 150 in Lincoln County Monday.

LINCOLN COUNTY, Ky. - Kentucky State Police responded to a triple-fatality crash on U.S. 150 in Lincoln County Monday. The crash was near Horton Cutoff Road just east of Stanford.

Officials with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet say three people are dead. According to the Lincoln County Coroner, the three people killed were all in the same vehicle.

Investigators say the car was passing another vehicle traveling towards Crab Orchard when it struck the oncoming truck right after noon on Monday. They say the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

"One person was ejected, during that collision, the other two were still inside, all three were not wearing a seat belt," said Kentucky State Trooper Robert Purdy.

They say the car with the bodies still inside, will be taken to a local fire station where they will remove the bodies.

After the crash officials shutdown all lanes of traffic while investigating. They say all lanes are now back open.

Investigators believe weather did not play a factor in the crash.
