Bryan Station alum Claitt named OVC Field Athlete of Year

EKU's Tequan Claitt recorded the top high jump in the NCAA this season, which shattered the school’s 35-year-old record and is the top jump by any American this year.

LEXINGTON, Ky. - EKU high jumper Tequan Claitt is the OVC Male Field Athlete of the Year. The former Bryan Station multi-sport athlete becomes the first Colonel to win award.

Claitt, who also starred in basketball and football at Bryan Station, recorded the top high jump in the NCAA this season, with a 7’5.75” at Western Kentucky’s Hilltopper Relays. The sophomore's jump shattered EKU’s 35-year old school record in the event.

It’s the top jump by any American this year and is tied for the 8th best in the world this season.

EKU's Jamaine Coleman was named the OVC Male Track Athlete of the Year and Charlotte Imer the OVC Female Track Athlete of the Year.
