Gran expects huge challenge at South Carolina
LEXINGTON, Ky. - UK offensive coordinator Eddie Gran said he expects a huge challenge Saturday as Kentucky opens SEC play at South Carolina.
“They’re definitely better than they were last year," said Gran. "A lot of those guys were young and Will’s (Muschamp) done a great job of getting those guys doing the right things ant the right time. He mixes things up; he’s never going to make you feel comfortable. So it’s a huge challenge for us."
South Carolina opened the SEC last week with a road win at Missouri. The Gamecocks now play their home opener as Kentucky hits the road to begin SEC play.
"It’s SEC on the road. It doesn’t get any better than that," said Gran. "But they’ve got a really good defense and we’re going to have to do a great job of protecting the football. First downs are going to be tough. We’re going to have to be tough and make sure our defense stays off the field. They do a great job in the red zone. We’ve got to make sure we get seven points when we’re down there.”
Kentucky-South Carolina kicks at 7:30 p.m. on the SEC Network.
