Athlete of the Week: Anderson County's Cobe Penny
Anderson County's Cobe Penny is the Fox 56 High School Sports Extra Athlete of the Week presented by CTE, the College for Technical Education. Penny became Anderson County's all-time leading scorer last Friday, Feb. 2 during a 77-44 win over St. Patrick. Penny scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. His 2,102 career points broke the record set in 2009 by his older brother CJ Penny.
Penny added to his career total the following day in the Jock Sutherland Classic at Lafayette, with 24 points and 7 rebounds in an 86-55 loss to the host Generals.
Prior to the Penny's, Anderson County's all-time leading scorer was 1971 Mr. Basketball and Kentucky Wildcat great Jimmy Dan Conner, who went on to play a season for the Kentucky Colonels in the ABA.
