Mask mandates

Apple once again has a mask mandate.

The company is requiring customers to wear masks in all its U.S. retail stores after dropping the requirement for about half of its locations.

Apple said this is because of the number of rising covid cases in many communities.

Hobby Lobby minimum wage

Hobby Lobby is ringing in the new year by raising its “minimum full-time hourly wage” to $18.50.  

That is a dollar-fifty an hour higher than the last wage hike that began in October 2020.

The chain said it’s one of the first retailers to establish a national minimum hourly wage, “well above the federal minimum rate.”

Hobby Lobby has 956 stores.

Stressed-out pets

The American Kennel Club is warning that Christmas activities can put stress on your dog.

 Situations like loud noises, lots of new visitors, and new environments could cause fear in your pet.

Experts said to watch for some key signs like destructive activities excessive barking and pacing.

They recommend having a “safe space” ready for your dog if they need it.

The Financial Times newspaper has named Elon Musk its “person of the year.”

The Tesla CEO received the same honor from Time magazine.

The Financial Times said it selected Musk to commend him for the work done in transforming the electric vehicle industry.

Life-saving song

A rap song from 2017 may have helped save hundreds of lives.

A study found that a song about suicide prevention by American rapper Logic may have helped stop people from taking their own lives.

The song titled “1-800-273-8255” is named after the phone number for the national suicide prevention lifeline.

The study found that following the song’s release and performances, the lifeline saw a call increase of nearly 7%.

Researchers estimate 245 deaths by suicide were prevented as a result.
