Congregations across central Kentucky are teaming up to forgive medical debts this holiday season.
The Commonwealth Forgiveness Project wants to eliminate $3.5 million dollars of debt as a holiday gift for those most in need.
Since medical debt can be purchased for pennies on the dollar, every dollar raised has one hundred times the impact.
The congregations hope to raise $35,000 before the end of the Christmas and Hanukkah holiday.
If you want to help, you can donate to the Commonwealth Forgiveness Project through any of the participating congregations. Those are Saint Michael the Archangel Episcopal Church, Central Baptist Church, First Presbyterian Church, Temple Adath Israel in Lexington and Union Church in Berea.
