LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) – A glove worn by the singer Prince during his Purple Rain tour in the 1980s is up for auction.

Terry Lewis was working at Rupp during a December 1984 concert when the singer hew a glove into the crowd, according to a letter attached to the auction site.

”…I was part of the set up and breakdown team – I’ve included my tax records to prove my employment at Rupp Arena…During the show Prince went up a twenty foot staircase to the scaffolding on the side of the stage while performing and took off and threw one of his gloves towards the audience. It didn’t reach the audience though – I watched the glove fall out of sight into the scaffolding below him. After the show, I kept an eye out for the glove as I was breaking down the lighting scaffolding in the area Prince threw it and sure enough, there it was…”

At last check, the highest bid in an online auction is more than $20,000.

The auction ends Wednesday evening.
