FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ky. (WDKY) – An employee at Franklin County High School is accused of having a weapon on campus.
The superintendent says he was made aware of the situation Tuesday after school.
An arrest citation says Holly Lawson, the school’s counselor, was approached by the school’s administration on Wednesday morning about whether or not she was currently carrying a handgun.
Lawson said she did have a handgun in her purse, saying she went on a weekend getaway with her husband and forgot to take it out.
According to the arrest citation, school staff reported Lawson had bragged about bringing her handgun to school. Lawson said she did not recall any conversations about that.
Lawson was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a weapon on school property.
