Kentucky Marine walking 200 miles for Tunnel to Towers

A Kentucky veteran is walking 200 miles from Louisville to Catlettsburg raising money for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.

The organization builds smart houses for disabled veterans and first responders and pays off mortgages for those killed in the line of duty.

Thursday was day four of Max Maxfield’s journey and you might have seen him and his American flag around Versailles or on the outskirts of Fayette County.

He stopped and posted a message to his Facebook page just outside of Lexington saying, “this walk is about police officers, firefighters and first responders and veterans who have laid it all out there everyday. They hit the ground and do a grind that nobody wants to do.”

The Marine says he’s humbly asking for anyone who can to donate at least $1 to his cause. You can make a donation to the Together We Stand site by clicking here.

If you’d like to join Maxfield, he says grab a flag and hop on the trail.

The walk resumes Friday at 8am outside Lexington Fire Station #17 on Royster Road.

He’ll walk along U.S. 60 and hopes to finish by next Wednesday.
