LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Recognizing the importance of spending time outdoors, Gov. Beshear announced more than 40 new projects aimed at upgrading parks and recreation areas across the Commonwealth on Friday.

More than $4 million from the federally funded land and water conservation was allotted to communities across Kentucky for the renovation or replacement of playground equipment.

The construction of walking and biking paths and the updating of recreational areas to be accessible for Kentuckians with disabilities are also a focus of the renovation projects.
