Gov. Beshear reports over 1,600 new COVID-19 cases; 8.55% positivity rate

FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases in Kentucky.

Governor Beshear reported 1,618 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the state total to 481,001 cases. The governor says the state is seeing an 8.55% positivity rate. Of Thursday’s new cases, 328 are in kids 18 or younger.

There were two new COVID-19 related deaths reported on Thursday. That brings the state total to 7,327.

As of Thursday, 608 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 189 are in the ICU, and 82 are on ventilators.

The governor reported 2,291,046 Kentuckians have been vaccinated.
