MADISON COUNTY, Ky. (WDKY) – A new gas station and convenience store is coming to Madison County just off exit 83, but it’s not your typical stop. It will have over 100 fueling stations and a massive indoor shopping center.
Buc-ee’s is known as one of the largest gas stations and convenience stores, and it will occupy more than 53,000 square feet and will have roughly 120 fueling stations.
Based out of Texas, Buc-ee’s has been around for nearly 40 years and just started its multi-state expansion in 2019 with locations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and recently South Carolina. Now, they’re expanding to Kentucky, building their location just off exit 83 in Madison County.
Buc-ee’s is known to have award-winning restrooms along with all of Texans’ favorites from barbecue, to beef jerky, to even fresh pastries as more. Once complete, it will bring roughly 200 full time jobs to Madison County.
“Payroll tax, that kind of thing, will certainly help the coffers of the City of Richmond, and as I said I’m excited and elated and encouraged. I can’t wait till they actually get up and running,” Richmond Mayor Robert Blythe said.
Mayor Blythe also says he hopes this expansion will promote more growth in Madison County, meaning more jobs and more money for the area.
While Buc-ee’s is known as a travel center and a great place to stop on a road trip, they won’t have any semi fueling or parking areas.
