The fundraiser will benefit the families of the three Morehead State University students involved in a car crash while vacationing in Florida less than a month ago.
Sadly, the accident was fatal for Stephen Bowling, known by family and friends as “Breck”. The other passengers, Christian Schneider and Grayson Rulon were critically injured.
Jaci Rigsby, Grayson’s cousin, is spearheading this event. She was approached by the owners of the salon about this opportunity.
“You have to have the vessel for generosity, and they’ve given that,” said Rigsby. “We are thrilled and ready to use it to the fullest extent.”
Rigsby said during this tragic time, her family is leaning on prayer to power through. She said there is hope things will get better when you’re counting on something or someone bigger than yourself.
Haircuts for Cause will split 100% of the proceeds between the three families. The money will help cover the costs of medical expenses for Grayson and Christian, as well as be added to a scholarship fund in honor of Breck.
Rigsby said her cousin, Grayson, is currently rehabilitating at a facility in Atlanta, Georgia. “He is working on speech therapy and practicing his motor skills,” she said. “He is basically relearning normal everyday things we take for granted.”
She said Grayson is making great progress, but there is still a long road to recovery and any little donation is greatly appreciated.
Haircuts are $20 between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Reservations are not required. There will also be a silent auction and bake sale that day.
