ROWAN COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – It is Deegan Beane’s precious smile they will miss the most.

“We got notified of what happened that morning… and it just doesn’t seem real,” a family member said.

A talented athlete with a bright smile are two traits that the family of Beane said they will miss the most about their boy.

“That is the one thing that I keep remembering is just his little grin. It was the best thing about him, he would just sit there and keep that little half-smile,” said Leighton Piper, Beane’s cousin.

Beane was months away from high school graduation. His family said he had just got accepted into Morehead State University to attend classes in the fall.

“He sat and spoke with me and my girlfriend and just everybody there and just you know wanting to know what classes, should he stay on campus or in an apartment and what classes he should take,” said Piper.

Beane was one of two teens that died in a structure fire off Pretty Ridge Road in Rowan County on Tuesday morning.

“We really didn’t want him to go, but I mean he is seventeen. He texted me when he was there and he had always done that,” said his grandmother Lisa Bean

It was the glow Beane had when he walked in the room…his cousin said he will miss the most.

“He had a huge heart and I mean he never was like the loudest person in the room. But, you always knew he was there, and he had the best smile and it would just light up the room,” said Piper.

The coroner said the other victim was 18-year-old Charles Meade, who lived at the home.
