ESTILL COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – An Estill County family is mourning the loss of a Kentucky National Guardsman who died while serving on active duty in Texas.

Sergeant first-class Johnnie Patrick died Jan. 10, while serving as part of the southwest border mission in El Paso. Patrick served in the guard for more than 20 years and was a member of the 207th engineer company out of Jackson, Ky.

The governor has asked that flags at all state buildings fly at half-staff until sunset Sunday.

Visitation for Patrick will be Saturday evening from 6-9 p.m. at Warren F. Toler Funeral home in Irvine, Ky. His funeral is Sunday at 1 p.m.

Patrick will be interred following the services at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
