KENTUCKY (FOX 56) – Kentucky schools are responding to a threat circulating on social media.

An online threat was posted on Snapchat Friday that said shooters would target Central High School on Monday. It did not mention a city or a state.

With Central High Schools all over the country, all were made aware of the threat and began investigating, including Madison County and Knox County.

The Knox County Sheriff’s Office sent out a release saying investigations across the country eventually led back to a group of suspects in Missouri.

Police said they will have extra officers present Monday outside of Madison Central out of an abundance of caution.

Chief Rodney Richards said it’s standard procedure to increase their presence anytime a threat is made against a school.
