CAMPBELLSBURG, Ky. (FOX 56) — What was initially a missing person search has turned into a death investigation in Campbellsburg.
The Kentucky State Police said at approximately 11:29 a.m. on Monday, an individual came into Post 5 and reported their family member, Thomas Korfhage III, as missing. Troopers entered Korfhage as missing and began a missing person investigation.
After a short time into the investigation, troopers stated they received information about the possible location of Korfhage’s vehicle. Troopers located the vehicle at the Interstate 71 rest area near mile marker 12 and found a lone male inside.
Oldham County EMS and the Oldham County coroner responded to the scene. The coroner pronounced the male inside deceased, according to authorities.
Initial investigation by the Kentucky State Police indicates no foul play. The male was positively identified as Thomas Korfhage III of Trimble County.
The investigation is ongoing by Kentucky State Police with assistance from the Oldham County Sheriff’s Office.
