WHITLEY COUNTY, Ky. (FOX 56) – Kentucky State Police (KSP) are currently investigating an officer-involved shooting that happened late Saturday night, Jan. 15.

Officers in Whitley County responded to a domestic call that indicated a man fired a gun inside his home.

When police arrived, the man in question would not let his wife and children leave the residence.

Police reportedly tried to negotiate with the man, but he pointed his gun at officers.

Reports said the officer fired at the suspect, hitting and injuring him.

The officer who fired the shot is on administrative leave while an internal investigation takes place.

The man who was shot is in critical condition at UK hospital.
