LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — One man has been arrested in connection to an overnight homicide that occurred on Augusta Drive in Lexington.
Sean Smith, 53, has been charged with murder and first-degree wanton endangerment. He is currently lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.
The coroner has not yet identified the victim in this incident.
The Lexington Police Department is actively investigating a homicide that occurred in the early morning hours of Friday.
Officers said they were called out to the 1000 block of Augusta Drive at approximately 2 a.m. for reports of an individual down. When they arrived they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced deceased by the Lexington Fire Department on the scene.
The Fayette County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s name.
Authorities are asking anyone in the area to check their home surveillance video for any information that could help with the investigation.
