LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The identity of the victim in Tuesday’s New Circle Road shooting has been released.

The Fayette County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 42-year-old Eric Boone.

The coroner’s report indicates Boone’s cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and manner of death was homicide.

The subject was involved in Tuesday’s shooting on New Circle Road and succumbed to his injuries at the UK Medical Center.

The investigation into this shooting is ongoing.

A man is dead following a shooting that shut down portions of New Circle Road.

Lexington’s traffic management system announced a road closure around 6:07 p.m.

According to the Lexington Police Department, they received a call that someone was shot at around 5:56 p.m. with the injured person being taken to the hospital.

The injured person was identified as a 42-year-old man. While at the hospital he was pronounced dead.

His name will be released by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office later.

Portions of New Circle Road were shut down and traffic was being redirected to diverted to Bryan Avenue or Bryan Station Road, according to LexWrecks.

A single lane is now open on the inner loop of New Circle Road at Meadow Lane, according to a 9:58 p.m. update from LexWrecks.
