Man facing murder charge after assault in Lexington parking garage

LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56/WKYT) – Police have arrested a suspect in a deadly assault that happened around 10 p.m. Monday in a downtown Lexington parking garage.

Police said they were called to the Victorian Square parking garage on West Short Street. When they arrived, they found 39-year-old Benjamin Call assaulting a 31-year-old male.

Officers said the victim later died on the scene. The Fayette County Coroner identified him as John Tyler “Ty” Abner of Lexington.

Call was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He’s since been arrested and booked into the Fayette County Detention Center on a murder charge.

Police believe Call and Abner knew each other. The investigation is still ongoing.
