BOYLE COUNTY, Ky. (WDKY) - A teenage murder suspect was back in a Boyle County courtroom Friday afternoon, as a judge was asked to move the case from adult court.

Jenna Oakley is charged with complicity to commit murder in connection to her stepmother’s death.

Oakley was 15 when her stepmother was killed in September of 2016. Oakley went missing after her stepmother’s death, but was found days later in New Mexico with her boyfriend, 20-year-old Kenneth Nigh. Nigh has since passed away.

At Friday’s motion hearing, Oakley’s attorney asked that the case be pushed back to juvenile court, since Oakley was a teenager when her stepmother was killed. The prosecutor, on the other hand, believes the decision to move the case to adult court was the right one.

Oakley is now 17 and will turn 18 in March. Her trial is scheduled to start on Jan. 23.

The judge says he will be ruling on the motions Tuesday.
