Bat in Lexington neighborhood tests positive for rabies
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says a bat found in a Lexington neighborhood has tested positive for rabies.
The bat was found in the Radcliffe/Marlboro neighborhood, which is off of Russell Cave Rd. outside of New Circle Rd. Officials are posting signs notifying people who live in the area.
People who live nearby are asked to make sure their pets are vaccinated for rabies. Symptoms include behavioral changes, chewing at the bite site, fever and loss of appetite.
If a bat is active during the day or cannot fly at night, it is more likely it has rabies.
