LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) – A stretch of Interstate 75 was shut down in Lexington Friday morning.

A vehicle fire and a tree on the roadway blocked traffic in the southbound lanes near the 99-mile marker.

Crews are expected to remain on scene for hours as a result of the traffic hazard.

Police were responding to a report of trees down on Old Richmond Road when they noticed the fire.

A driver traveling to Georgia told FOX 56 he pulled up right behind the trailer that caught fire. He says the driver hopped out of the vehicle and grabbed a fire extinguisher to try and put out the flames unsuccessfully.
