STANFORD, Ky. (WDKY) — Firefighters and rescue personnel from multiple agencies worked together Saturday to rescue a cow that fell into a sinkhole.
The cow was discovered nearly 20-feet below ground in a sinkhole located off of Moore's Lane in Lincoln County.
Crews from Lincoln County Fire Station 3, the Jessamine County Fire Department, the Lexington Fire Department, and Hustonville Fire Department, along with Lincoln County EMS came together to free the animal.
Using backhoes, rescuers were able to create a hole safe enough to dig out the cow and lift it to safety.
Firefighters said the animal did not appear to be injured. It will spend a few days resting before getting back to the fields.
