LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – The family of Lexington’s latest homicide victim spoke out Tuesday, Jan. 11, hoping to learn what happened and why.

Lexington Police said 26-year-old Kobby Lee Martin was found shot on Cantrill Drive Friday night, Jan. 7, and died at the scene. No other information has been released since then.

Martin’s brother Keavon described him as a father of a young son, and an energetic person who will be missed. Keavon said he talked to Martin on the phone just hours before he died, saying they were making plans for Keavon to meet Martin’s son.

Keavon said something needs to change fast so no other families have to suffer.

“To hear about this is really mind-blowing, it’s really hard taking it in all at once. Not knowing what happened, who did it, what led to it is hurtful and hard. We just need to stop the violence, tragedies like this are not good on families and we all need to come together,” said Keavon Martin.

FOX 56 reached out to Lexington Police for an interview to discuss an update on Martin’s case and to learn what steps they’re taking to curb some of the violence in the new year. The department said they did not have anyone available to speak Tuesday, Jan 11, but are working to have someone available Wednesday, Jan. 12.
