FOX 56 anchor Kristen Pflum’s ‘Taking Alex’ podcast wins Regional Murrow Award

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) – The Radio Television Digital News Association announced Thursday (May 6) that FOX 56’s 10 O’clock News anchor Kristen Pflum‘s podcast, “Taking Alex,” won a 2021 Regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

The award is given to a podcast that demonstrates “original and outstanding journalistic enterprise on an important issue.”

Pflum’s podcast takes an in-depth look at the 2013 disappearance and death of Alex Johnson and details the twists and turns of the investigation, with exclusive insight into the case’s main players. Years after a conviction, this story is far from over.

Johnson, 32, was a graduate of Transylvania University and a chef at UK’s Boone Center when he went missing. The Bowling Green native left behind his parents, Lee and Judy, his sister Cayce, and girlfriend Lisa.

The podcast launched December 20, 2020, which was also the 7th anniversary of Alex’s death, with a series total of eight episodes.

Listen to the “Taking Alex” podcast now wherever you get your podcasts, and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
