FRANKFORT, Ky. (FOX 56) – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is warning residents of warrant scam calls in the area.

Officials said individuals are calling from the number (502)-663-5460 pretending to be Franklin County Sheriff’s Office employees and stating they are from the “warrant and citation division” when, in fact, there is no such division within the organization.

Scammers who call and state they are from the fabricated division oftentimes attempt to scare victims into paying arrest warrant fines that do not exist. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office has received complaints from various citizens and businesses regarding calls of this nature.

Franklin County officials encourage citizens to not give out any sort of personal information over the phone and emphasize that the sheriff’s office will never call to collect payment.

This scam is one of many similar in nature that have been reported within the state in recent months.
