LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – Georgetown police and fire departments took some time this week to honor a young girl who saw someone in need and jumped in to help.

Back in March, Lillian Mauney was at the Pavillion and noticed a little girl underwater in the hot tub who was having trouble resurfacing.

That’s when rescue workers said Lillian jumped into action pulling the little one out of the water just in time.

Lillian was presented the life-saving award by Georgetown police and received Georgetown Fire’s Challenge Coin for her bravery and quick thinking.

Both units said there is no doubt Lillian saved a life that day.
