Gov. Beshear reports 2,250 new cases; 11.55% positivity rate

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDKY) – Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

The governor said the supply of vaccine doses the state will receive next week is almost 30,000 fewer than the number of vaccine we distributed last week. He says supply is going to be our problem moving forward.

Gov. Andy Beshear announced Tuesday that Kentucky hospitals will receive an additional $800 million to $1 billion annually to help advance the quality of care of Medicaid members and provide a stable base for hospitals that will extend beyond the financial challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Gov. Beshear reported 2,250 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the state total to 330,907 cases. The governor says the state is seeing a 11.55 percent positivity rate.

There were 27 reported COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday. The state death total is now 3,194.

As of Tuesday, 1,633 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 442 are in the ICU, and 208 are on ventilators.
