Gov. Beshear reports 3,057 new COVID-19 cases; 28 deaths


FRANKFORT, Ky. (WDKY) – Governor Andy Beshear is providing an update on COVID-19 cases.

The governor announced Thomson Hood Veterans Center residents started receiving their vaccines today. It’s a facility that’s lost 34 people due to COVID-related deaths.

This morning Gov. Beshear and other political leaders got their COVID vaccines, and he says he has only a little soreness in his arm.

Gov. Beshear reported 3,057 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the state total to 247,344 cases. The governor says the state is seeing a 8.48 percent positivity rate. Of Tuesday’s new cases, 327 are in kids 18 or younger.

There were 28 reported COVID-19 related deaths on Tuesday. The state death total is now 2,440.

As of Tuesday, 1,631 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 419 are in the ICU, and 223 are on ventilators. At least 35,118 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.
