H&R Block customers experience stimulus check delays

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) – Some Americans are still waiting on stimulus checks because of an issue with their tax preparation service. Turbo Tax and H&R Block customers have reported issues getting the second round of payments. Eligible adults making up to $75,000 annually will receive $600.

While many Americans saw the direct deposit hit on Monday, Eva James said instead, she saw something else when she checked IRS’s Get My Payment tool.

“Totally different account number,” James said. “Not even close to mine.”

H&R Block released a message to customers explaining where their $600 may have gone. According to the release, individuals seeing an unrecognizable account number can get help from customer service agents.

“You call them, automated message, there’s nobody saying, ‘okay we understand your problem, here’s what we can do about it,’” James said.

James said with no luck or answers, she’s frustrated.

“We live paycheck to paycheck. We’re not rich and so now we’re stuck with, okay, we were planning to do stuff with this money, catch up on bills, etc., now we don’t have it,” James said.

H&R Block posted to Twitter saying it’s the IRS that determines where the payments are sent.

Another post said millions of stimulus payments were processed and on their way to bank accounts or the company’s emerald cards.

“To give us an estimate of just whenever is not good enough. We need something solid,” James said.

H&R Block’s website warns that wait times may be long. It encourages users to send questions via Twitter, but it’s important to not include personal information online.
