Hundreds attend Keeneland's Kids Club Family Day Sunday

While this afternoon was rainy, that didn't stop Keeneland race fans from attending Sunday's races, which also held a special treat for their Kids Club members and their families. These families received free general admission and access to reserved Grandstand seating.

Children's activities were also held on the North Terrace including cookie decorating sponsored by Whole Foods, and face painting and crafts from Lexington Public Library and Kentucky Horse Park. Lemonade was also offered by The Salvation Army's LemonAiD Days, a program that enables young people to raise money for local homeless children.

Keeneland's Kids Club was established back in 2012 for children 12 and under and officials say this club is a great way to grow a child's love for Keeneland at a very young age.

"We started the Keeneland Kids Club and at the end of last year we had 11,000 members so we have so many people who are interested and they want to be a part of Keeneland and experience it in a totally different way," stated Kara Heissenbuttel, Director of Employee and Patron Experience.

Along with the Kids Club Family Day, members also receive a birthday card from mascot Buckles, and invitations to exclusive events, including an Easter Egg Hunt and Holiday Party.
