Icy winter storms cause power outages in southern Kentucky


    South Kentucky Regional Electric Cooperative Corporation (SKRECC) reported that hundreds of customers in southern Kentucky were without power because of icy conditions in the region. By about 5:00 Sunday night, none of its counties had more than 150 customers without power.

    Jackson Energy is also reporting outages in Clay, Laurel, and Rockcastle Counties. About 800 customers are without power in Laurel County.

    Kentucky Utilities is also reporting several outages in southern Kentucky, including about 600 in Laurel County. Their outage map can be accessed by clicking here: http://stormcenter.lge-ku.com/default.html.

    Power companies are reminding customers to stay away from downed lines.
