Jim Caldwell's Forecast | Heavy rain threat continues

LEXINGTON, Ky. (WDKY) - The Flash Flood threat shows no sign of easing until Wednesday night.

The pipeline of moisture will get the rain flowing into Kentucky today through tomorrow. Just like yesterday, we will have to deal with locally heavy rains at times. Many areas have already picked up several inches of rainfall. We will likely see a few more inches before it is all said and done. Take into account that we might track some strong to severe storms today and you have another reason to worry about flash flooding.

As a cold front starts to press into Kentucky, storms out a head of it will begin to develop. Some of those have the potential to be strong or even severe. The primary threats out of these will be strong winds and heavy rains.

Threats include:

- Wind gusts pushing 60 MPH

- Additional rainfall accumulations 1"-3"

- Some thunderstorms could be heavier

A cold front will finally blast through Kentucky on Wednesday. As it exits the area, we will finally see the rain pull away from Kentucky. Things will settle down for the remainder of the week and into the weekend. It is just the getting there that will be so rough. A nice Fall feel will roll into town after the front clears out, too. We will be able to enjoy that... after it gets here!
