Jim Caldwell's Forecast | Wicked weekend weather
There is a chance that some of you will actually see some sunshine this afternoon. The key word... SOME. Most of us will keep those clouds all day. Our big weekend system will begin blowing in some clouds by tonight.
We have been talking about it for days and now it is here. This monster of a storm system is coming to Kentucky to bring a little of everything.
This begins on Saturday morning and will continue through the day. General rainfall totals for the event will be round 2"-4" and that will fall on some already saturated ground. This could lead to high water issues.
As the system beings to pull away, we will track a very intense snow band. It is the same band of snow that will cause a whole world of trouble for areas north of Kentucky. I don't think that snow will be the major player. We might end up with a few inches out of this.
Our invasion of Arctic Air will be more problematic than the snow. We will see temps drop from the 30s & 60s to the teens. That will happen in a very short amount of time on Saturday night & Sunday. All of the water that has fallen will begin to freeze. So anything that has a layer of water or dampness on it will freeze. This could cause more issues that any snow threat that we have. Expect single digit temps by Sunday night and Monday morning. Subzero wind chill readings are also possible.
