KSP investigating after murder suspect shot by Lexington police


LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) – An officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Lexington.

It happened Wednesday morning on Thirlstane Court, just outside New Circle Road in the Kenawood neighborhood.

At a Wednesday afternoon news conference, Lexington Police Chief Lawrence Weathers said officers and U.S. Marshals were trying to make contact with the suspect in a Lexington murder.

Weathers says shots were fired and the suspect was shot.

None of the officers were hurt.

Weathers says the suspect was taken to the hospital and is stable.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released but he is facing charges of murder and felony possesion of a firearm.

Kentucky State Police has been called in to investigate the shooting. Weathers says the officers has been placed on administrative duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
